American Idol

I've never been one to deny myself of a few guilty pleasures. Diet Coke, way too many Food Network and HGTV shows, clearance sales, chocolate peanut butter ice cream. However, there is one that is staring me in the face tonight and I really don't want to give in to it!

"Da da da da da da da da da da daaaa...." (Are you catching that tune?)



After watching almost every episode last season, I promised myself I wouldn't do it again. I don't even want to think about how many hours I spent in front of the TV when I could have been reading, exercising...anything else!

And here we are again.

The season premiere is tonight. Jeff is watching.

"Da da da da da da da da da da daaaa....."

How can I help myself from watching these people go in front of the judges? Yes, there are the completely untalented who we laugh at and can't believe they have the nerve to sing at all.

Then there are the truly talented who have dreamed of this day forever. I often cry when they run out of the audition room and hug their families when they've been given the news, "Your going to Hollywood!" I'm tearing up right now just thinking about it.

Oh my.

And my temptation to watch is heightened even more by my curiosity as to how Ellen will do as a judge.

I don't think I'm a strong enough person to resist.
