A fun family gathering

Over the 4th of July weekend, some of my siblings and their children gathered in Boise for a little reunion. Since we all live in different states, this is a rare occurrence anymore. Greg is in Georgia, Paul in Tennessee, Karrie in Vegas and Abby in Utah. It normally takes a wedding or funeral to get us all together! We were bummed that Greg and Lora were not able to make it this time. They were missed! But hopefully we will have another one of these very soon and they can make it.

Since Jeff and I were the host city, we tried to think of some fun Boise activities to do. Friday was spent shopping, swimming, eating and visiting with Abby and Paul's family. Saturday morning we headed downtown to the Farmers Market. Mini Donuts...YUM!! Afterward, Karrie and fam arrived and we had a picnic at Julia Davis Park and then rode the paddle boats. That was so much fun!! Later in the day, we grilled at our house followed by a friendly game of Bingo where we played for prizes. Spencer and Jamie's family joined us on Saturday night as well and it was so great to have them with us. Sunday we said goodbye to Cara and kids as they took off for Utah so the girls could attend EFY. The rest of the day was spent going to church, eating, visiting, eating, eating and eating.  Did I mention eating?

Jeff and Abby both caught some great pictures from the weekend. I tried to size them down so I could fit in as many as possible. Hopefully, this works! Sorry if it looks like a bungled mess when you pull it up on your computers. I'm still learning how this blogger thing works...

All in all, I would say our gathering was a success. Great company, good food and some fun activities made for an awesome weekend. I loved that my girls were able to get acquainted with more of their cousins.  I was sad to see everyone go and felt a little bit of a homesick feeling when I took everyone to the airport. I haven't felt that homesick feeling in a long time! I love my family very much and wish we were able to get together more often. (Sigh)

I'm just so thankful for my family. They have all taught me so much and have been the best examples to me through my life. Can't wait to see everyone again soon!!

What a face!

I've noticed in a lot of Lexi's pictures lately that she often looks a little raggedy. Poor girl! This is my doing, or not doing I guess. Her hair is constantly hanging in her face covering up the beautiful little girl underneath. She's at that stage where she doesn't have much hair to work with and she isn't the most patient when it comes to doing anything with it. Today I got her busy for long enough to have some fun with her hair.

So without further adieu, here is Lexi's pretty little face!

Lizette wanted her hair  to match Lexi's.

Lexi loves to climb on Lizette when she is trying to watch one of her shows.  Of course, Lizette loves being interrupted!  I think it's cute though.

First Bike

Lizette got to go with Daddy yesterday to pick out her first bike.  She was so excited!  She's never ridden a bike before and we were wondering if she would be at all apprehensive.  Not a bit!  She loves it and took right off.  (Thank goodness for training wheels!) It was so fun to watch her take off and be such a big girl.

Lexi has inherited the tricycle and she is catching on. If it wasn't for having to push the pedals she would be in great shape. They are such a nuisance!

Watch out neighborhood. The Rigby girls are ready to ride!

P.S.  Can't wait to post pictures from our Widman family gathering soon! They are currently being processed by our resident photographer.  Should have them up in a couple of days.
