Sweet Memories

Today Lizette went to a birthday party which is one of her all time favorite activities. She was thrilled to get to go. The last half of the party was spent at our neighborhood pool and I helped drive some of the kids and keep watch at the pool. While we were sitting in the car waiting for the other moms to load up, I had a chance to listen to Lizette chat with her new friends. She hasn't spent time with these little girls before and they are a little bit older than her. I was surprised to hear my shy little thing making conversation!  At one point there was a little bit of a lull in the conversation and Lizette turns to the girl next to her and says "I really like your swimsuit."  I looked back and the other little girl was beaming.  It was so simple and sweet.  Then Lizette made sure to tell the girl in the front seat that she liked her suit too.

This sounds like such a small thing, but to me this was huge!  Lizette can be so shy and I loved to see that she was making the effort to make friends with someone.  I see her sweetness all the time, but I think her shyness holds her back from letting the rest of the world see it very often.  I'm so glad to see her coming out of her shell a little bit here and there.

The other night Lexi and I had a chance to spend some one on one time with each other while Lizette was at a sleepover. We sat on the couch together for about an hour straight just laughing and laughing. It was so funny and fun! She was attacking me with kisses and hugs and would laugh so hard after each attack. She has about the cutest squealing laugh I've ever heard.

I think we both really needed that hour of laughter together. We haven't always had the easiest relationship! It was nice to have a little bit of time to remind each other that we love each other more than anything.

I love my girls so much! However, I find myself wishing time away all too often because I'm thinking that these toddler years are really hard. I know that I need to take a breath and just enjoy this time because these sweet little moments when they are young will be gone before I know it.
